 During my friends’ wedding party I was taking part in “oczepiny” and I caught the veil. I was sure that I should return it to the Bride, but she decided to give it to me. What should I do with it? Shouldn’t I return it anyway? |
I understand your dilemma, since it is not common for the newly wedded wife to give away this symbolic and important part of her vestments. That is why usually a special bouquet or bridal garter is used during “oczepiny”.
Reception emotions have surely passed, so the time is right to delicately ask again if the Bride’s intention was to give the veil away forever. If so – feel free to enjoy it and keep it in remembrance of the reception. Maybe you will wear it for your own reception or pass it on to another maid. |
